How To Get Rid of Spyware from your Computer

Surfing the web is inherently a risky activity for your computer. Living dangerously on the web is easy to do!

If you have been surfing the internet without the protection of a good firewall, anti-virus guard, or spyware checker, then you will inevitably have to do a major clean-up of your system eventually. Unwanted spyware programs will accumulate on your system and will consume you computer's resources, memory, and processing power. You will eventually notice a drop in the performance of your PC and this is an early sign of an infection. When you start getting continuous pop-up ads that are unrelated to the web site you are trying to view, then it is assured you will need to give your computer a clean out.

Since there are a number of good anti-spyware programs available in both free and commercial versions, you would need to start cleaning your infected computer using some of these programs. Spybot Search and Destroy (Spybot S&D) can root out most of the insidious programs and remove them automatically. Using a second highly rated anti-spyware program as a double-check can also expand the search for these parasite programs and clean off a lot of potentially dangerous threats off your machine completely.

Once you have removed these stealthy rogue programs, you will want to run a good registry cleaner program to remove all trace of the spyware's presence. This is an important step because upon reboot, some spyware will have its coded in the root of your system and just reload itself after you tried to eliminate it. Abexo and CCleaner are highly recommended programs for cleansing and maintaining the PC's registry.

There are a few spyware programs, viruses and worm programs, that cannot be removed and depending on your level of need for security, a last ditch effort to save your computer and your privacy, would be to back-up you data and files and reformat the hard drive and reload the operating system on it. This is a drastic step and should only be used as a last resort. It can be a time consuming task, but it is better than having to regain your identity from an internet thief and criminal.

Do yourself a favour and get your computer the protection it needs.
